Our Producers: Comunidad Indigena Cohetando
First we must give honour and say gracias to the individuals in Colombia who grow and harvest our coffee beans with such great dedication and care. We understand how challenging your work can be and we are grateful for it.
Our coffee is produced by 50 families that live in the Cohetando Indigenous reserve. Their community surrounds the sacred peak of Chumbipe where few outsiders have ever been permitted to visit.
The region is spectacular, with incredibly rich soil and the perfect altitude for growing coffee. The potential quality is limitless and the Indigenous community simply needs committed buyers like us to take things to the next level.
Our Coffee Exporter and Importer: Jordy from Osito
The first thing you notice about Jordy is that he is incredibly tall. His exceptional height is matched only by his exceptional character and love for flavour. We knew from the day we met Jordy that we wanted to work with him to bring our coffee from Colombia.
What makes Jordy and Osito different from other exporters is their approach to coffee pricing. Osito offers prices to producers which are not tethered to the commodity market (which fluctuates hugely), but rather are based on the history of the relationship and the quality of the coffee.
This gives producers the ability to deliver coffee on their own terms and provides them with sufficient profits to reinvest in continually improving their equipment and processes.
Our Roasters: Ben, Tim and Blaine from Semi Pro Coffee
Semi Pro’s motto is “have more fun” and boy do these boys live it. You can find Ben on any given day roasting beans in his hot pink short shorts and crocs with socks.
We will never forget that our first ‘meeting’ we were called upstairs and made to shoot a basket to see if there was any potential in us working together. Paulo missed, but luckily Miranda swished it and we’ve been shooting goals together ever since.
We are hardly the ideal customer for a roaster, unpredictable volumes and no fixed address, but these boys believed in our mission, saw our passion for excellent coffee and got behind us in a big way. Every week they roast our beans to perfection and send them to wherever we might be in Australia - which believe us, is often pretty remote - and now they’re sending direct to you, our customers!

Our Vehicle: Andrew and Jennelle from Espresso79
Paulo had always dreamed of opening a coffee shop one day but we stumbled across Andrew and Jennelle whom opened our eyes to the possibility of combining that dream with our shared love for adventure in a custom-built Landcruiser 79 Series.
From the day we visited their workshop in Gold Coast and learnt more about the endless potential for off-grid espresso bars, we were unable to talk or think about anything other than finding our way of making our dream a reality.
We appreciate Andrew and Jennelle’s shared emphasis on quality, sustainability, minimalism and industry knowledge. Their approach matched our desire to purchase only the essentials, but the best, and Andrew was a huge help in guiding us towards the best-in-industry options.
When people ask us how we power our coffee machine and marvel at our custom off-grid set-up we don’t hesitate to point them to Espresso79 as the mastermind behind its build.
